Image Splitter cuts a picture into equal tiles. Choose a 2×2, 3×3 or custom grid for a photo collage, or switch to strips to slice a long banner. Every piece downloads together as a single ZIP.

How to Split an Image Online

  1. Add your image

Drop your picture into Image Splitter, click to browse, or paste it with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac).

  2. Choose the grid

Pick 2×2 or 3×3, set your own rows and columns up to 10 × 10, or cut the image into strips.

  3. Download the ZIP

Check the tile previews, then click Download ZIP. Every piece is packaged into one file.

Split Into a Grid, or Cut Into Vertical Strips

A grid split is what you want for turning one picture into a 3×3 Instagram puzzle or a set of equal tiles for a print layout. Strip mode in Image Splitter cuts the picture into equal columns or rows instead, which is the usual way to slice a wide banner or a long infographic for a website.

Split a panorama into carousel slides

A swipeable carousel looks seamless when one wide photo is cut into equal vertical strips. Choose Vertical strips and set the columns to the number of slides. For three 4:5 portrait slides, start from an image 2.4 times as wide as it is tall.

Download Every Tile at Once

Splitting a large image by hand means exporting each crop separately. Image Splitter generates the tiles in your browser and bundles them into one ZIP, so a 3×3 split is one download instead of nine. Each file is named by its row and column, starting from the top left, so the order is always clear.

How do I split an image into 9 squares?

Tap 3 × 3, or set both rows and columns to 3, then download the ZIP. Start from a square image for nine perfect squares; a rectangular image gives nine equal rectangles.

Can I split an image for Instagram?

Yes. A 3×3 split is the standard way to build a grid puzzle. Post the tiles in reverse order, from row 3, column 3 back to row 1, column 1, so they line up on your profile. Instagram crops profile thumbnails to a 3:4 portrait shape, so starting from a 3:4 image keeps the tiles aligned.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Image Splitter crops each tile at full resolution with no resizing. When the size does not divide evenly, the extra pixels are shared across the tiles, so nothing at the edges is lost.

Is this image splitter free?

Yes. Image Splitter is free to use, with no account and no watermark.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Image Splitter creates the tiles and the ZIP file inside your browser, so your images never leave your device.

What formats can I split?

JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and GIF (first frame), up to 25 MB and 8,000 pixels on each side. Tiles are saved as PNG, JPG or WebP.
